Spring Break 2011 here I come! But where am I going? Most freshmen are just ready to just go home and relax while others venture out on the crazy adventure of College Spring Break. I might be going to the beach, but I will most likely just go home. Hopefully next year I can plan a good trip in advance. During high school, my family each year made a trip to the Pigeon Forge, Tennenese. Last year I luckily got to travel to Costa Rica with my AP Biology class which consisted mostly of my best friends. We traveled to many parts of Costa Rica including the rainforests, beaches, and volcano sites. My favorite part of the trip was walking down a large path of steps to a waterfall. At the waterfall we were able to swim in the water and enjoy the breeze. We also did a zip line through a rainforest at one site we visited. This was intimidating at the first drop, but actually turned out not to be scary at all. I did have a minor accident though where my nose barely scrapped across the zip line causing the outside of my nose to bleed. I was ok though and really enjoyed this experience. We also did white-water rafting at one site. This was entertaining because nobody in my raft had any experience with white-water rafting. We turned out to be pretty good and only flipped the raft one time. Halfway during this adventure we stopped and ate the most delicious watermelon and pineapple. We also were able to jump of a rope into the water which was fun. The pineapple in Costa Rica was probably the best I have ever had. The food in general was different and unique and consisted of at least some assortment of rice and beans. The fruit was always fresh and the coffee was amazing. I purchased like six bags of coffee just for my family on this trip. One hotel we stayed at always had monkeys running around. I tried communicating with them one day and ended up making them really mad. The biodiversity of plants and animals in Costa Rica amazed me. I recommend anyone who is interested in traveling to Costa Rica to do it sometime in your lifetime. I really enjoyed this trip and eye-opening experience.
Your Costa Rica trip sounds AWESOME!...well minus the nose bleed. Haha. That’s so cool that you got to see rain forests and volcanoes, AND you got to see and experience it all with your friends. Costa Rica sounds so exotic! I don’t even know if my parents will let me go to Disney World with my close friends. -__- I’ve done white-water rafting with my youth group in church before a couple of years ago. The water actually almost pulled me out of the raft, but my dad grabbed me before I drifted to my death. Although the water’s FREEZING, I love the thrill of trying to avoid all the giant rocks. And I’ve always wanted to go zip-lining! I love heights, so it’s one of those things on my bucket list. Glad you had a fun time! I’m also looking forward to just relaxing this SB and being able to do nothing whenever I want.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I would really like to go somewhere tropical for spring break. It also sounds like you had a really educating time as well. I don't think most college kids going on spring break learn to appreciate nature and communicate with primates. Sounds like a blast if you ask me. As for the white water rafting, I can vouch for you on that one, I have been a couple times and have loved it. Its almost more fun when you have an inexperienced group in your raft. There is a lot to laugh about, thats for sure. Capsizing is fun too... only for a little while though because the water is frigid. People definitely underestimate cold water. One time I jumped into a partially frozen lake in mid January. It was not my best idea ever. I thought that I was drowning and couldn't swim, until I realized that I could stand in the water, it was only about 4 feet deep. But thats what cold water will do to you! Anyway, whatever you do, I hope you have a fun and safe spring break! See you all on Monday.
